3. Connecting your webshop

Autoprint needs to know where your orders come from, of course. So you connect your webshop to your account once. After that, Autoprint fetches the orders itself — you never have to think about it again.

You do this from your dashboard, in the webshop connection section.

What you need

Every webshop platform gives you a few details that let other programs access your orders safely. Usually that's a kind of key or access code. Where you find it differs per platform:

• Mijnwebwinkel — in your admin area, under Add-ons & Module → Apps & Integraties. Create a connection there and you'll get a MerchantToken: the key Autoprint needs to fetch your orders.
• CCV Shop — in your admin area, under Settings → API. You create access there and receive a key and a secret.
• WooCommerce — in your WordPress admin, under WooCommerce → Settings → Advanced → REST API. Create a key with read permission there; you'll get a Consumer key and a Consumer secret. Autoprint also asks for your shop's web address.
• Shopify — here you create a small app of your own that may only read your orders. That sounds more technical than it is; the steps are below.

Shopify, step by step

Shopify doesn't hand out a ready-made key. Instead, you create your own app that may only look at your orders. It takes two minutes and you don't have to program anything.

1. In your Shopify admin, click Settings at the bottom left.
2. Choose Apps in the menu on the left.
3. Click Develop apps at the top right, then Create an app.
4. Give the app a name — Autoprint, for example — and save.
5. Go to the Configuration tab and click Configure under Admin API integration.
6. Find read_orders in the list and tick only that one. Autoprint needs nothing more, and handing out as few permissions as possible is always safest.
7. Click Save. That button is at the bottom of the page — worth knowing, because there's one at the top too.
8. Go to the API credentials tab and click Install app at the top right. Confirm in the window that appears.
9. Your Admin API access token now appears. It starts with shpat_.

Is Install app greyed out? Then the save in step 7 didn't go through. Go back to Configuration and check whether read_orders is really listed there.

Copy that token straight away. Shopify shows it once and never again. If you lose it, you simply create a new app — no disaster, but a waste of your time.

You'll also need your shop's address. It's in your browser's address bar and under Settings → General, and it looks like yourshop.myshopify.com.

How to connect

1. On your dashboard, go to the webshop connection.
2. Choose your platform.
3. Paste the details you obtained from your platform.
4. Save. We'll immediately run a quick test to check the details work.

If everything checks out, your shop is connected and Autoprint starts fetching your orders. If something's off, you'll see it right away — check that you copied the details completely and without stray spaces, then try again.

More than one webshop

You can connect as many webshops as you like. On the free plan you connect one; on Pro you connect as many as you need.

Worth knowing: every connected webshop counts towards your monthly amount. Two webshops is twice the amount, three is three times. What that amount per webshop is, you'll find on autoprint.shop.

Your invoice adjusts on its own, and you pay for exactly the days a webshop is connected: connect a second webshop today and you only pay for the remaining days of this month. Disconnect one and you stop paying from that day. The settlement appears as a separate line on your next monthly invoice, so you see one payment per month and never a separate one in between.

Anything that isn't a webshop costs nothing extra: you connect as many printers as you like. Autoprint does run on one computer per account — see 5. Frequently asked questions.

Safely stored

Your access details are never just left lying around. We store them encrypted and use them solely to fetch your orders. There's more on this in 7. Privacy and security.
